Jonathan Woodgate..... still!
The rumour is here to stay along with the below one, and in Gary Hooper from Scunny last summer style. Simon was quoted by the YEP as saying:
"We're a big attraction and we've proved that in the past. We're a big football club and I want to show our intentions..."
"If Jonathan Woodgate or anyone else who's played in the Premier League will make us better then we'll try and sign them... I'm sure if any manager in the Championship or the Premier League was offered Jonathan Woodgate, they'd have to consider it."
Redknapp has said he would prefer Jonathan to step down to the Championship in a bid to regain fitness and that he'd be more than happy for him to do so. It seems it's down to the player, with Cardiff, QPR and us seemingly leading the chase.
Personally, I believe he'll go to QPR. I say this simply because he's already based in London at Spurs so would be little hassle for him. Unfortunate, as he'd obviously be a massive boost for the club - even if injury prone and still unfit.
The Perpetual Alan Smith Rumour
*UPDATE* The rumour has gone away. Alan Pardew: "He's an important person in this group, he's a good character around the dressing room. He's strong and he knows these sort of games, so he'll definitely be in the dressing room come what may."

It's back with a bang, and proper comment from Grayson. He hints although he's not yet asked Alan Pardew about his availability, he may do in time:"He's a good player and forget any affinity he has with the club in the past... If you get a player of Alan Smith's ability then obviously you would have to be interested. We are in the market to make us better."
"No one knows if Alan Smith is available. Alan Pardew is the only one. I have not asked that question. Whether I intend to, we will have to wait and see where we go with it."
Danny Higginbotham from Stoke
Daily Mail - Danny Higginbotham Rumour
Another player linked from the mill-y-est of all rumour mills (bar the Betfair sports website....) is Danny Higginbotham. He can play as a left or centre back - ideal for us at this current moment in time as we seem to be short in quality in both of those positions, since Collins has be re-utilised and McCartney has left.
It could happen, only played 4 times this season and is of a quality definitely higher than what we currently have at the club. I'd like to see it.
